RoamLabX previously distributed another elevator-bed brand. Limited product support—and the tight spatial requirements of real camper vans—made the opportunity clear: a van bed lift should be engineered specifically for a van, not adapted from a generic lifting platform.
Thin by design
A compact 80 mm / 3.1-inch frame preserves the headroom that makes a camper interior usable.

Small lift motors integrate into the bed structure and include a controlled mechanical release for power-loss situations.
RoamLabX controls
A proprietary control system was developed from the ground up around smooth daily operation, torque monitoring and any-height holding.

The proprietary RoamLabX motor controller continuously monitors torque load while the complete sleeping platform moves vertically. When resistance increases—including when the bed gently clamps against the ceiling—the controller automatically stops the motors.

Compact by day. Full length by night.
The frame retracts to 63 × 55 inches, then expands to 77 × 55 inches for north–south sleeping. Pull the two yellow handles to deploy it; press the release and push inward to retract. The mechanism locks automatically. The rear profile is shaped around the van door-frame and body contour, reclaiming approximately 4 inches of usable sleeping length that a straight rear edge would leave behind.
The current manual-extension design saves approximately 10 lb compared with the earlier powered-extension arrangement.
Controlled manual lowering is built into every motor.
Each motor includes an emergency release handle. Access it from above through the bed-frame ribs, or from below after removing the bed panels.
- Engaging the handle mechanically disengages the motor drive
- The bed can then be lowered manually in a controlled manner
- Deliberate downward force is required, helping prevent a sudden drop
- Professional installation and correct lift alignment are strongly recommended

The powder-coated aluminum frame is approximately 80 mm, or 3.1 inches, thick before slats and mattress. Its compact structure helps preserve the space above and below the bed.

How much vertical space does the frame use?
The frame is approximately 80 mm, or 3.1 inches, before the slats and mattress.
Where should the guide rails be installed?
Guide rails work best near vertical cabinetry or shower walls. Some layouts may support the bed on properly engineered cabinetry.
What happens if electrical power is unavailable?
Each motor includes a mechanical emergency-release handle, accessible from above through the frame ribs or from below after removing the bed panels. Engaging it disconnects the drive; deliberate downward force is required for controlled lowering.
Can bedding remain on the platform?
Yes. The smart controller monitors motor load and stops automatically as resistance increases. The bed can lift with its mattress, bedding and secured soft items, but all stored items must be secured against sudden braking, sharp maneuvers or a collision.
Does it fit every van automatically?
No. Confirm vehicle dimensions, mounting structure, wall geometry, travel clearance and installation requirements for your exact build.
Is professional installation recommended?
Yes. The mounting structure and lift alignment are safety-critical parts of the installation.
